Netherlands-based South African artist EGGSTA has released a new single titled ‘BAE’ (Before Anyone Else) featuring local pop singer Lee Cole. 

The song is available for streaming and download(link is external) and is off her upcoming EP Back Home, which is set for release sometime this year. ‘BAE’ was written in the UK and recorded in South Africa.

“I remember hearing his [Lee Cole’s] song ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’ and thinking I had to have him on ‘BAE’,” EGGSTA said. “I knew his sultry, jazzy vocal would complement the song perfectly. He nailed it in basically one take and I couldn’t be happier to have him on this song. I really love how our voices are so incredibly different yet blended so perfectly together on ‘BAE’.

She wrote on social media: “I spent the whole of last year and beginning of this year with my head down in studio writing and creating so much new music to show you all. It was an incredibly challenging time with personal and industry complications and struggles. This song is the first of so much more to come and I want to thank you all for your incredible patience and support in this period of creation.”

EGGSTA’s team says the upcoming EP is a nostalgic expression of how she felt about being back home in South Africa.

EGGSTA said: “There’s something quite beautiful about South Africa that always humbles me from the moment I step foot off the plane. I can’t quite explain it but if you’ve lived here, you know just how special this place is.”
