BIOGRAPGHY Born from humble beginnings on 29 September 1998, deep in the shanties outskirts of a small town in highland regions of the West Soweto area in Nairobi, Kenya. Dee started writing and creating music in 2016 while living in Kahawangware, often referred to as Kahawa. What started as a hobby grew serious in a short time. "I grew up with the old style of pop music culture and was always obsessed with it. My first love of music came from the guidance of my late older brother Johnte. Inspiration flowed when I discovered and started listening to reggae music from the likes of Bob Marley and Gregory Isaacs. Today my goal is to make good quality music for the people just like it was done in the old days. The first studio I went to was called Chambers. That was the start of my learning curve. A challenging, nervous and exciting drama. Never knowing how things would work out and unpredictable quality issues all added to the excitement. Amazing times", Dee recalls. In time he gathered experience and later met up with the owner of the Jumbo Sounds. A well-renowned studio in Kenya for hosting the likes of Willy Paul and nationally famous producers like Teddy B. It was there the "Fire Love" track was initially recorded. During the pandemic days of 2021, Dee was discovered by John Francis, a Caribbean/Swedish-based producer, and was signed to his DanceBEAT Records label. "Fire Love" was edited and remixed for release at the end of August 2022. This Afro-pop song features the beautiful vocals of Mendy, also from Nairobi, Kenya, and is a hot little gem that will be buzzing in listeners' heads for the rest of the summer and beyond.
